NEWS & EVENTS

Quaint and quirky but above all Bretts REALLY know about fish and chips. Somewhat incongruously housed in an ivy clad cottage in the heart of Headingley is Bretts Fish & Chip restaurant. Not the setting you would normally associate with our national dish. However, what is produced by Bretts is so far removed from the normal offerings that it makes it the perfect setting. Check out the reviews for this place on the internet, five stars all the way.
The restaurant is small, seating around 20, but that adds to its charm. Cricketing memorabilia adorns the walls, it would be rude not to being so close to Headingley cricket ground. But the star of the show is the fish and chips. Maris Piper potatoes are used to create the perfect chip, golden and crispy on the outside, soft, fluffy and full of flavour to the bite. Icelandic fish is sourced to give a good meaty fillet and these are all fried off in beef dripping creating the ultimate in light, crispy batter. You can wash your meal down with any one of a number of wines offered and even follow up with a pud if room allows. It may seem odd going to a restaurant and having a sit down meal of fish and chips but don’t you see this offered on countless Gastro Pub menus and readily tuck in? Bretts offers something these mostly faceless pubs cannot, whimsical charm and what you will no doubt agree to be the best fish and chips you have ever tasted.
Your Gravy-Train voucher gives you the perfect excuse to go in and try for yourself. 25% off the best fish and chips you’ve ever had? Heaven. Enjoy!
